First and
foremost, any painting of quality should be a timeless piece of art
cherished by its owner. This is especially true of a portrait.
The paintings on
this page, all timeless pieces that happen to be portraits, were
selected as examples of this truth. The fact that they are of different
styles and from different historical periods does not diminish their
artistic quality or value. They are all timeless paintings of
appreciating value.
It is to this end
that I produce a painting, especially one done by commission. It is my
goal that my work -- in addition to pleasing its immediate recipients --
would stand the test of time like that of Rembrandt, Cezanne, Sargent,
Picasso and Wyeth. Aiming for this standard has helped me produce work
that consistently satisfies serious clients.
In cases where I
work from client-supplied photography (as opposed to what I would obtain
from a scheduled photo-shoot), the client is encouraged to carefully
consider which of their personal photos will make the best painting. And
because the two arts of painting and photography are each governed by
their own rules, it's worth noting that a poor photograph can often make
a great painting.
Feel free,
therefore, to consult with me during the selection process, and I will
do my best to find the greatest possible potential in every picture.
